Welcome to Broxbourne u3a
Broxbourne u3a is an organisation for "third-agers" - those no longer engaged in full-time employment or child care. Members get together to share knowledge, skills and experiences with other like-minded people. Our u3a was founded in 2000 and serves the area covered by the Broxbourne Borough Council in Hertfordshire with 600+ members although you are very welcome to join us wherever you live, and whatever your age! Our annual membership fee is £15.
We’ve been shortlisted! We are delighted to have been shortlisted for The King’s Award for Voluntary Service 2026 — a fantastic recognition of the contribution made by our amazing volunteers. The official results will be announced on 14 November 2026.
Our u3a normally holds a full meeting once a month on the 3rd Thursday, at the Spotlight (formerly the Broxbourne Civic Hall) where a speaker will entertain us. Please see the events page for a list of the main speakers subject matter. If the venue changes it will; be listed here. Attendance has often exceeded 300, and the opportunity is available to find out more about our interest groups, which meet throughout the month at various local venues or members' homes.
There are over 40 interest groups ranging from Art to A Good Read, Craft to T'ai Chi, French for Beginners to French Boules, Line Dancing to London Walks and Walking to Wine Appreciation. There's something for everyone. See our GROUPS page for a full list of active groups.
A warm welcome is guaranteed and you can be sure to make new friends. If you are not yet a member, and would like to join Broxbourne u3a and take part in our activities, please come along to our next Monthly Meeting, use the CONTACT page to send a message to our Membership Secretary or perhaps even print, fill out the MEMBERSHIP form and POST your application together with a STAMPED ADDRESSED ENVELOPE (for return of new card) to: the address on the form.
